Make it Last: A Textile Art Festival Focused on Sewing & Sustainability

  • San Diego Continuing Education: West Campus 3249 Fordham Street San Diego, CA, 92110 United States (map)

We were thrilled to hear from Shirley Pierson, M.F.A., Associate Professor and Program Chair, Clothing and Textiles, of San Diego Community College District, inviting us to participate in the department’s annual Make it Last. The event theme is “Buy Wise, Choose Well, Make It Last.” The focus is on slowing down, consuming less, appreciating what we have and being creative with our clothing. Each year SDCCD exposes their students to the environmental issues found within the clothing and textile industry.

Molly Prentzel, our unofficial San Diego coordinator, generously volunteered to work out table, and our friends from the San Diego Creative Weavers Guild sent some magical items for display, including their stunning black and white striped coat from 2021’s Slow and Local Clothing Project.
